When you arrive you will check in with our friendly receptionist. Then your dentist will perform a focused examination of the impacted tooth or area of your mouth. We will take a necessary, low-radiation x-ray of the area in order to diagnose the issue. After the examination our doctor will discuss a treatment plan with you to determine the best course of action to relieve you of your pain.

What is a toothache?

A toothache is defined as pain in or around a tooth.  The symptoms of a toothache can be sharp, throbbing or constant pain in or around the tooth.  You can experience swelling or bleeding of the gum tissue. You may experience a fever or nausea and even have a foul taste in your mouth.

Toothaches have a number of causes, such as:

  • Tooth decay
  • An abscessed tooth
  • A tooth break, chip or fracture
  • Bruxism or grinding teeth
  • Infected gums and/or gingivitis
  • A filling that has become damaged or loose over time

Your dentist will determine the best cause of action to relieve you of your toothache.  You may need a root canal or TMJ treatment (if you are grinding your teeth). Please watch our short videos below to learn more about these particular issues.
